Today, February 14, Armenian alpine skier Harutyun Harutyunyan will represent Armenia at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games.
The 26-year-old athlete will start under bib number 80 in the first run of the giant slalom. A total of 81 alpine skiers are entered in the discipline.
Competing under bib number 78 will be Cyprus-based Armenian skier Yiannos Kouyoumdjian.
This will be Harutyunyan’s second Olympic appearance. At Beijing 2022, he was unable to compete due to a positive COVID-19 test.
The Armenian skier has also participated in four World Championships. His best result was 61st place in 2021.
Notably, Harutyun managed to secure the required Olympic ranking points only in January 2026 after competing in several tournaments in Austria.
Interestingly, in the last two Armenian national championships, Harutyun finished behind fellow Armenian alpine skier Gleb Mosesov, who ultimately was not included in the Olympic roster. We have previously reported on this situation and will publish additional details following Harutyunyan’s performance.
The competition starts at 13:00 Yerevan time.
