Armenian alpine skier Harutyun Harutyunyan finished 59rd in the giant slalom at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. A total of 81 athletes took part in the competition.
Before the старт, Armenian fans had two main questions — would Harutyun manage to finish the race, and could he outperform Cyprus representative of Armenian origin Yiannos Kouyoumdjian.
Our athlete accomplished both tasks, confidently completing the course. Congratulations to Harutyun on a достойное performance! Yiannos Kouyoumdjian finished 64th.
After the first run, Brazil’s Lucas Pinheiro Braathen took the lead. He continues to fight for a historic medal, which could become Brazil’s first-ever medal in Winter Olympic history.
Only the top 30 skiers from the first run advance to the second run. Therefore, Harutyunyan завершил his participation in the giant slalom.
However, his Olympic program continues — on February 16, the Armenian athlete will compete in the slalom event.
