Artur Aleksanyan will miss only the 2026 European Championship

The Wrestling Federation of Armenia has issued an official statement regarding the condition of Olympic champion Artur Aleksanyan. Earlier, media reports suggested that the decorated wrestler would miss the entire 2026 season, but this information has not been confirmed.
According to the federation, Aleksanyan will only miss the 2026 European Championship for now, as he continues to recover from an injury. At the same time, his participation in other tournaments throughout the year has not been ruled out.
The statement emphasizes that the athlete has not yet said his final word on the mat.
In the 97 kg weight category, Armenia will be represented at the upcoming European Championship by 24-year-old Hayk Khloyan. He is a U23 world champion and has already proven himself at the senior level — in 2025, Khloyan finished second at a ranking tournament in Budapest.
