Armenian boxer Zakharyan starts with a victory at the Futures Cup U19

Armenian boxer Karen Zakharyan (60 kg) successfully started his performance at the international FUTURES CUP U19 tournament taking place in Bangkok.

In his first bout, Zakharyan defeated a representative of Egypt by unanimous decision and advanced to the next stage of the competition.

In the round of 1/16, the Armenian athlete will face Finnish boxer Veeti Vahatiito.

Another Armenian representative, Tigran Kirakosyan (50 kg), finished his performance at the tournament after his first fight. He lost to a boxer from Uzbekistan by unanimous decision.

It should be noted that the FUTURES CUP U19 is a qualifying tournament for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games.

In total, Armenia is represented by three boxers at the competition. The third member of the team, Suren Katvalyan (65 kg), will hold his first bout on March 11.
