Armenia has risen to 33rd place in the 2025/26 UEFA coefficient rankings. The progress became possible after Yerevan’s “Noah” secured a victory that added +0.500 points to the national tally. Armenia now has 15.062 points, overtaking several competitors in the race for more favorable European competition spots.
The key highlight was Noah’s historic 1–0 win over Dutch side AZ in the first leg of the Conference League Round of 32. The only goal came in the 52nd minute, scored by Hovhannes Hambardzumyan. The 34-year-old defender finished precisely after a pass from Hélder Ferreira, giving his team a narrow advantage ahead of the return leg. It was Hambardzumyan’s 45th appearance in European competitions — an impressive milestone.
The second leg will take place on February 26 in Alkmaar. There, the fate of the Round of 16 qualification — and Armenia’s chance to earn additional crucial points — will be decided.
The current 33rd position is highly significant. If maintained, Armenia will have a club in the Europa League for the 2027/28 season. The allocation applies to future seasons, as spring–autumn domestic championships have already concluded and quota changes will take effect later.
Armenia’s main rivals are Finland and Kosovo. Finland’s KuPS is facing Lech and has already lost the first match. Kosovo’s Drita is playing against Slovenia’s Celje. These nations could threaten Armenia’s advantageous position. Moldova and Kazakhstan no longer have representatives in European competitions.
Noah’s victory is more than just a single club’s achievement. It represents a step forward for Armenian football as a whole and a real opportunity to secure a higher European status after many years. All eyes are now on the decisive return match in the Netherlands.
