Following the conclusion of the European campaign for Armenian clubs, it has been officially confirmed that Armenia will retain 33rd place in the UEFA coefficient rankings. This historic achievement guarantees the country a place in the Europa League for the 2027/28 season.
Armenia’s competitors in the race for the position — clubs from Kosovo, Finland, and Bosnia and Herzegovina — have completed their European campaigns, which definitively secured Armenia’s 33rd place at the end of the current five-year cycle.
Moreover, Armenia will begin the 2026/27 season in 32nd place. This is due to the UEFA coefficient calculation system, which considers results from the last five seasons. The 2020/21 season — one of the least successful for Armenian clubs — will be excluded from the calculation. The updated figures will be:
-
2021/22 — 7.5 points (1.875 after division among 4 clubs)
-
2022/23 — 9.5
-
2023/24 — 9
-
2024/25 — 17.5
-
2025/26 — 16.75
As a result, the updated five-year total will move Armenia up to 32nd position, ahead of Moldova and Russia, but still behind Iceland.
In the 2025/26 season, Armenian clubs earned 16.75 ranking points. This is slightly lower than last season (17.5), but significantly higher than in 2023/24 (9). The steady growth in recent years is evident.
The main contribution came from Noah, which earned 13.25 points.
Pyunik added 2 points,
Ararat-Armenia — 1.5,
Urartu — 0.
It is worth recalling that Noah reached the Conference League playoffs, where they were eliminated by AZ on aggregate in the Round of 32. The victory in the first leg brought Armenia the decisive points that secured 33rd place and allowed the country to surpass Moldova.
Thanks to this achievement, the European qualification scheme for Armenian clubs will change. In the 2027/28 season, the winner of the Armenian Cup will start in the first qualifying round of the Europa League instead of the second qualifying round of the Conference League. This is a significant advantage: even if eliminated from the Europa League, the team will still have the opportunity to continue in the Conference League.
If the same club wins both the league title and the Armenian Cup, the Europa League spot will be transferred to the Premier League runner-up.
It is important to note that these changes will take effect in 2027/28. In the 2026/27 season, everything will remain unchanged: the Armenian champion will enter the first qualifying round of the Champions League, the Cup winner will enter the second qualifying round of the Conference League, and the second- and third-placed teams will start in the first qualifying round of the Conference League.
Armenian club football is making a confident step forward. The key objective now is not only to maintain current positions but to establish itself around 30th place in the UEFA rankings and make Europa League representation consistent.
