On March 11, a high-profile rematch will take place in Rio de Janeiro: Arman Tsarukyan and Giorgio Poullas will meet on the mat once again, but this time under grappling rules.
The bout will be held as part of the HYPE Fighting Brazil event and will serve as the main event of the evening. The match format is Submission Only, where victory can be achieved exclusively by submission via choke or joint lock.
Background of the Rivalry
On March 1, the fighters previously faced each other at the RAF 06 tournament in Arizona, competing under freestyle wrestling rules. Arman Tsarukyan won that encounter, but after the final whistle the situation escalated — Arman struck his opponent, triggering a mass brawl.
The incident caused significant backlash within the combat sports community, prompting both sides to settle the score in a rematch — this time under grappling rules.
In a prior interview, Tsarukyan stated that Giorgio Poullas would receive a record-breaking purse for this match — “more than he has ever earned anywhere.” This adds even more intrigue to an already heated rivalry.

HYPE Fighting Brazil Fight Card
The Rio event promises several high-profile names:
-
Jean Silva will compete in a grappling match against an unnamed opponent.
-
Shara Bullet will face Jorge Masvidal on the mat.
For Arman, this will be his second appearance in HYPE FC. Previously, he competed in a grappling bout against Shara Bullet in Yerevan.
On March 11 in Rio de Janeiro, the fighters will have the opportunity to settle their conflict and determine the stronger competitor under Submission Only rules.
