On April 18, three Armenian weightlifters will compete at the 2025 European Championships
On the sixth day of competition at the 2025 European Weightlifting Championships, April 18, three members of the Armenian national team will take to the platform.
In the men’s 89 kg weight category, 21-year-old Mnatsakan Abrahamyan will make his debut at the senior level. He replaced the experienced Andranik Karapetyan in the squad. The competition in this weight class promises to be unpredictable: Olympic champion Karlos Nasar has moved up to a heavier category, while Antonio Pizzolato and Karapetyan are not participating. This gives Abrahamyan a real chance to fight for the medals. His main rivals are considered to be Marin Robu of Moldova and Rafael Friedrich of Germany. It’s worth noting that Mnatsakan has previously twice won bronze at the European Junior Championships.

In the women’s 76 kg category, two Armenian athletes will compete: 18-year-old European Junior Champion Anna Amroyan and 23-year-old Milena Khachatryan. Both are seen as strong contenders for the podium.

The competitions will begin at 17:00 Yerevan time.
