14-year-old Armenian tennis player Maria Azizyan makes a successful adult debut in Turkey

14-year-old Armenian tennis player Maria Azizyan made an impressive debut in the ITF adult series tournaments in Antalya, Turkey.

In her first tournament, Maria defeated Romanian Angelina Pavel (ITF 2244) 6-2, 6-2, but then lost to Russian Anna Kartseva (ITF 501) 1-6, 6-7 (0-7).

In the second tournament, Azizyan won two tough matches: first, she defeated Turkish Esil Toklu (N/R) 6-4, 6-2, and then in a tense match beat Russian Ustinia Lekomtseva (ITF 44) 7-6 (7-3), 4-6, 10-7. In her third match, she lost to Russian Maria Masiyanskaya (ITF 232) 4-6, 4-6.

At the same time, 32-year-old Armenian tennis player Ani Amiragyan (WTA 948) continues competing in the ITF 35 (W) tournament in Antalya. In qualifying, she defeated opponents from Serbia and Ukraine, and in the main draw won against a Turkish player. Tomorrow, Amiragyan will play the 1/8 finals against Spanish Martixell Garcia (WTA 1200).

Young and experienced athletes are showing excellent results, strengthening Armenian tennis on the international stage.
